Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun!

Top Ten Things That Make My Life As A Blogger Easier/Better

1. Netgalley: I became a blogger when eARCs were becoming a big thing. I quickly decided to embrace the change (despite vowing to only love physical books) and it's been wonderful. Especially now that I am blessed with a lot of review copies and only have so much room for books.

2. Edelweiss: Not only is Edelweiss a great resource for eARCs, but they also have catalogs and a ton of info about upcoming books. Don't get hung up on requesting ARCs here - dig deeper and see what other amazing things they have to offer.

3. Goodreads: I don't think a blogger can survive without Goodreads to help track and organize what you've read. Also, take time to interact with other people on their forums! You can learn a ton. Last year everyone wanted to know how I had the inside track at authors signing at BEA - it's because there's a BEA forum where there are dozens of people scouring websites, twitter, and facebook and then sharing that info. Also? There's giveaways.

4. Blog Tour Hosts: Specifically, blog tour hosts (like Kismet and Rockstar) that go above and beyond by providing all the info needed to make a blog tour post a success - everything from review copies to banners to html codes to pictures. I adore working with these two groups as they're amazing.

5. Twitter: Twitter is the best way to network as a blogger. You can interact with authors, publishers, and other bloggers there.

6. Google Drive: A great way to organize documents. I have spreadsheets on here for everything from giveaways to my BEA schedule. It saves everything and is easy to navigate.

7. BookExpo America: This conference is absolutely amazing for introducing me to knew and upcoming books. I love chatting with publicists and authors about what they're excited for and putting faces to names in person. Also? It's like a huge blogger reunion as I get to hang out with some of my favorite people!

8. Bloggers: Yes, other bloggers are an immense help to me. I have made some of the best friends blogging - frinedships that go beyond, "OMG! Did you read this book yet?" These are people I know I can call when my real life goes crazy and I need to vent. People who get all my crazy.

9. Publicists: Some of the hardest working people in the business. These people take the time to organize book tours, schedules, promote upcoming books, send out review copies, and answer a myriad of questions. I have met some of the coolest publicists since becoming a blogger.

10. Blogger: I know there's a big debate over blogger and wordpress, but blogger works for me. I like it. I know it. And most the blogs I follow are on it. For now? I'm a Blogger on blogger.

  1. Great list. I couldn't survive without most of these. I've moved away from NetGalley and Edelweiss, because I go request-mad, but they're really great resources.

  2. YES-YES-YES to each and every one of those!! I'm still a Blogger girl (obviously), too. Oh, and I've really gotten to love ebooks. Sure, there's something about getting a book in the mail or buying one in the store but I read so much (as most bloggers do) that I have a storage problem and wind up having to find new homes for so many books. Granted, all the YAs can go to my English department but still.

  3. Goodreads was definitely a life saver with BEA! Like you said it was great getting the inside scoop from so many people scouring the internet!

I'm also a big fan of Blogger, it makes it possible for HTML dummies (like me) to enjoy blogging. :)

  4. I agree will all of these! I honestly don't know what I would do without Goodreads (and I hope I never have to find out!) Also, BEA is so awesome that there are no words to describe its awesomeness :)

  5. First, I miss your face. For serious.

Second, yes to everything on your list! I've been hearing all these horror stories about Blogger dropping certain blogs without warning and all the different things Wordpress can do that Blogger can't, but I've been really happy with Blogger in the 3 years I've been doing this, and I'm sticking with it. *high five for Blogger*

    1. I really don't know how to live without you until May. It's been 3 months and we still have 9 to go.

      NINE. EFFING. MONTHS.

      *dies inside*

  6. Omg I totally agree about all of these! Like I have to start limiting myself on NG and Edelweiss because sometimes I do go request-crazy, even if I never get accepted for the titles lol. It's just so easy to click a button, though! Also, Twitter is honestly my best friend ever it's so easy to network, but I'm ind of disappointed in the new update >.<

    Fantastic list! <33

  7. How I Got My Ex Husband Back..Am so excited to share my testimony of a real spell caster who brought my husband back to me. My husband and I have been married for about 6 years now. We were happily married with two kids, a boy and a girl. 3 months ago, I started to notice some strange behavior from him and a few weeks later I found out that my husband is seeing someone else. He started coming home late from work, he hardly care about me or the kids anymore, Sometimes he goes out and doesn't even come back home for about 2-3 days. I did all I could to rectify this problem but all to no avail. I became very worried and needed help. As I was browsing through the internet one day, I came across a website that suggested that Dr Aluya can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So, I felt I should give him a try. I contacted him and and told him my problems and he told me what to do and i did it and he did a spell for me. 48 hours later, my husband came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promise never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. I and my family are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr Aluya Powerful Love Spell that really works. If you have any problem contact him and i guarantee you that he will help you. He will not disappoint you. Email him at: aluya.48hoursspelltemple@gmail.com or whatsapp him on: +2348110493039 you can also go through his website draluya48hoursspelltemple.webs.com/
